AWIS is Jacobsen's fully automatic wheel recognition software.  It is an add-on module that can be installed anywhere where a process requires automated wheel identification.

AWIS User Interface

Automatic Wheel Identification System (AWIS) is a new way to automate the identification of cast aluminum wheels.  The system uses precision optics and sophisticated computer control to accurately and consistently identify cast aluminum wheels. The system runs on a standard Windows PC, and is programmed using a simple, intuitive operator interface.

The system is available as a standalone turnkey module, or as components to integrate with an existing process and transport system.

The turnkey system consists of the following components:

			Specially built non-reflective live roller conveyor
			Lighting for optimal image quality, maximum illumination with minimum glare
			Industrial CCD video camera, optics, and frame grabber
			Industrial computer system with flat panel touch screen interface
			Wheel identification software
			Control and interface box for connection to process

The turnkey system can be inserted into any conveyor system before a process.  The system requires single wheel input, and can be combined with Jacobsen's two-fold singling device.  Once a single wheel is transported onto the conveyor, the system moves the wheel to a predefined position and takes a snapshot of the wheel.  The image of the wheel is compared to previously trained images and identified based on similarity.
