MAXIsafety™ Safety Module |
The x-ray interface box is designed to allow simple connection to the x-ray system from a single point.
X-ray power is controlled by two contactors that are connected to the safety circuit. The box provides two independent safety inputs to meet EN 954-1, category 4 safety requirements. A third contactor switches the x-ray system control voltage on and off. A key switch on the box or one key switch on the box and another at the operator interface allow lockout of the x-ray for service. A safety relay in the box monitors key switches and emergency stop switches
Connections are provided for cooling pump power, temperature and flow to ensure adequate cooling for the tube and safety shutoff if the temperature is too high or flow is too low.
Connections are also provided for "x-ray ready" and "x-ray on" warning lights, and a x-ray pre-warn horn or lamp.
The box also contains Ethernet remote I/O, including a serial port, which is used to control the generator. Because of the remote I/O the box and generator can be placed anywhere and still be controlled by the operator interface.
All connections on the box are Amphenol PT mini bayonet or GT reverse bayonet for quick connect and disconnect. Separate connectors are provided for cooling functions, safety connections, warning functions, and power. Connectors are keyed to prevent cross plugging. All connectors for all key switches and emergency stop switches are mounted on the box. Bridge caps can be used when switches are not installed.
The box includes fuses, surge protection and EMC filter to protect the x-ray system and protect upstream components from noise.
The package also includes six (6) Schmersal safety key switches with over 16,000 unique keys to prevent bypass and six (6) emergency stop switches with "x-ray on" and "x-ray shutoff" lamps. The switches and boxes have connectors to facilitate wiring.
Safety and Protective Devices
1. Comprehensive safety devices are designed to meet international standards
2. Key switch protection inhibiting unauthorized operation
3. EMERGENCY-STOP locks down push button
4. Automatic switch-off upon X-ray-On lamp failure
5. Adjustable pre-warning time
6. Dual high voltage contactors with redundancy monitoring
7. Two independent external safety circuits (e.g. door interlock)
8. Radiation safety interlock (DIN 54113) or primary interlock (US CFR 1020.40)
For the protection of all components including X-ray tube the following are continuously monitored and will shut down in the event of:
1. Over temperature in high voltage generator or power electronics
2. Over temperature and low flow rate in cooling circuit
3. Over and undervoltage
4. Over and undercurrent
5. Over power
