Jacobsen's x-ray beam shutter is an add-on component for x-ray systems.
The shutter enhances machine safety and extends x-ray tube life and can be integrated into an existing x-ray system.
Installing a shutter allows x-rays to remain on during product loading, helping to reduce cycling of the x-ray tube, and in turn increasing x-ray tube life.
X-Ray Beam Shutter
Jacobsen's x-ray beam shutter is an excellent addition to any x-ray system. Systems with shutters gain the immediate benefit of increased operator safety, as well as longer tube life. By installing the shutter in front of the x-ray tube and integrating it into an existing safety system, x-rays can remain on while products are loaded and unloaded from the radiation shielded enclosure.
The shutter incorporates two normally closed lead leaves that are opened by a rotary solenoid, and closed by a mechanical spring. Each leaf is has it's own safety rated positive break switch with NC contacts for the safety circuit and NO contacts for monitoring.
The shutter is installed in parallel with the product loading door safety circuit, allowing either the shutter or the product doors to be open, but not both. This allows parts to be loaded and unloaded safely, while eliminating the need to power down the x-ray tube.
