Jacobsen's MAXItire™ is an automated tire x-ray inspection system.
The system is designed to find internal defects in vehicle tires.

MAXItire™ System in Operation
A typical tire X-ray inspection system consists of four basic components: the X-ray radiation system, the tire manipulator or handling system, the imaging system, and the X-ray enclosure. Each component is essential to the function of the system. The type of imaging system (CMOS U-shaped line scan camera with maximum resolution of 83µm) and x-ray source (panoramic beam, 270° x 30°) is the most important.

MAXItire™ X-Ray Sectional View
The U-shaped CMOS line scan camera provides minimum geometric distortion, and, with its modular design, can be configured to for a wide range of tire sizes. Because the detector is digital, the image has superior dynamic range compared to analog images, and can generate more useful data when inspecting both thick and thin area, such as the tread and sidewall. By scanning a rotating tire between the X-ray source and the CMOS line scan detector, the system creates a high-resolution x-ray image. The image is presented on the monitor to the operator for image analysis.
All MAXItire™ systems include manual and semi-automatic modes, with operator-assisted fully automatic inspection available.
